Topics Covered:
The panel explores the factors that impact home insurance in the era of megafire. Due to the surge of home loss and increased occurances of climate disasters, insurers are raising rates and some are finding they cannot even get any insurance for their homes. The panelists share their understanding of the factors involved, what they are seeing from disaster survivors who are making claims and rebuilding homes, and how all homes might take proactive steps to reduce risk with home hardening. including home hardening. These preventive steps may be recognized by insurers as a key factor in insurability and policy rates.
