Day 3, Reimagine, highlights the need for new ways to approach disaster and how we may mitigate or reduce the impacts in the future.

The panel participants highlight their work and experience with post fire recovery related to housing-from emergency shelter, to long term temporary shelter solutions to permanent housing initiatives for the most economically and socially vulnerable people in the community. These folks are advancing innovative approaches, with some success and some failure--which is a learning experience for all. In what ways are we willing to change how we do things to be more resilient and more equitable for everyone?

The folks on this panel have been invited to it because they have each been innovative thinkers and actors. Whether there are language barriers, transportation considerations, physical special needs, challenging financials….what is possible? And what are the obstacles you had to overcome to get your project completed? Each person on this panel is not only think about new solutions but they are also DOING them.

Topics Covered:
The program on this day is about innovations and futures. When disaster strikes, there are many stages of need related to shelter. For quick solutions during the time of emergency, to temporary longer-term shelter, to making a home possible for those who have lost it all—many times when the resources are scarce for these people.
